Working with Style

Written by Suzanne West, Working with Style: Traditional and Modern Approaches to Layout and Typography is an attempt to blend, as the title indicates, contemporary and more antiquated styles of typography. She focuses on the forms which steadily evolved through the centuries beginning in the Renaissance and the German-Swiss style that has, more-or-less, dominated the field more recently.

Detailed below is an example of how the book is set up, showing the two separate approaches to dealing with an identical set of text. Examples in the book use both old and new fonts, opting to highlight the philosophies of each design and how they are applicable in a myriad number of ways.
