I found this Jameson whisky ad from Communication Arts Advertising Annual 52. They featured four types of ads with different messages in it. As you see, the message is entertaining, and humorous. The first letter of each ads is huge and ornate, decorated with flowers, just like from the medieval manuscript. Although the type is san serif, this decorated first letter of the message makes the ad look more classy. I like the typeface they chose. It fits to a humorous message with its friendly modern look. The alingment is justified, and placed in the center of the ad so in that way, it will be the first thing that people will look at. And then, my eyes went to the product, which is placed on the right. I think the negative space and the placement of the text and the product in the ad works very well. It is simple, and classy.
