U&lc was a quarterly magazine that exhibited and published the newest typefaces from company ITC from 1973 to 1999, after the publication went digital in 1998. The up-to-date editorial was the trend setter and displayed the best of graphic design, including many stories with in-depth background and stories related to typefaces and/or design. U&lc: Influencing Design and Typography by John Berry is a collection of the best covers and spreads from the entire span of the magazine's output. The first section gives first person accounts from editors about their experiences with the magazine and the history of the publication from its beginning to the present time. Throughout the years, U&lc was regarded as one of the best quality periodic publications in the world of art & design and helped influence the industry through its exposure of new ideas, knowledge about design, and recognition of quality typefaces.
