The first thing I noticed about the typophile forums is that when you resize the window on most of the forums the divs for the forum section and login section overlap. The typefaces used on this site are Georgia for the headings and forum body and Lucida Grande for the list of forums and on other sections of the site. These are not my favorite two typefaces, but they paired a serif and sans serif well using typefaces that are standard for the web. The type has good spacing on the left and right for the forum posts and is large size without many characters on a line which is good for the web and longer posts because it makes it easier to read. There are a lot of sections on this site including a type ID section for figuring out what typeface you are looking at, and a critique section for any level of designer. The release section is just for announcing typeface releases. The build section is for tech questions and the design section is obviously for design questions. The general section has a lot of posts that could definitely fit in other sections (mostly the type ID section) and then some things like type jokes that don't fit anywhere else. Whenever I design websites I usually avoid even trying to use regular web fonts like Georgia or Verdana and just go use a couple typekit fonts, but typophile showed me that you can use basic fonts and still produce a pretty attractive website.
