Communication Arts - Holli Hollingsworth

Communication Arts magazine is the largest design magazine in the world and shows the best work in graphic design, advertising, illustration, photography, interactive design and typography. I chose a typeface from it that was used for one of the posters in Jack Daniel's "Independence Day" poster campaign. They used a condensed slab serif typeface for the words "freedom" and "is a choice". I don't know the exact name of the typeface but I think it most closely resembles Rockwell. The poster features an statement based on the theme of independence. It was handcrafted and the type is made to look like it was embroidered to add to the theme of being handmade and carefully crafted just like Jack Daniels is. I think that the slab serif was a good choice because it looks handdrawn and is a bold brick like typeface that emphasizes the message.
