Baseline is the authoritative magazine about type and typography, within graphics and visual arts.
It's content is deliberately eclectic, with much original material. Contributors include the leading writers on typographic matters, generating a rich mixture of articles and reference material.
The issue I looked into was back from Winter 2008. In this issue, the magazine features several topics.
First, it features extensive and detailed book review on Markus Rathgeb's monograph on Otl Aicher(German Graphic Designer)
Next, you see an article about Ivan Chermayeff, who uses Picasso's profound statement 'When I run out of red, I use blue' as inspiration for his simple and powerful typographic interpretations of everyday messages.
Then, the magazine features Steven Heller's 3D letter shapes, investigating the semiotics of computer and print, and sees the digital printer as a link and translator between both media.
I'm going back to library to look more into these magazines.
