The first book I found is called, Posters American Style by Therese Thau

Heyman. It explores the strategies of 120 distinctively American style

posters. The cover of the book is yellow with 50 imprinted stars in the

middle. The title of the book and the section titles are all in a sans serif

font that looks like it could be Univers or similar to. The book contains one

to two posters on each page with a short description or comment about each

one. They are categorized into 5 different sections: American events,

designed to sell, patriots and protestors, advice for Americans, and sports.

The book also includes a guide to postermaking terms and biographies of the

postermakers. I think one characteristic that remained through out all of the

posters in the book would be that they all seemed to be aware of the

importance of the typography and its placement. The size of the book is

11.75" x 9".

The next book is called, Supernova - Art of the 1990s from the Logan

Collection and was edited by Madeleine Grynsztejn and published by the San

Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The book focuses mainly on the increasingly

diverse and cultural nature of art production in the 90s as well as the

innovations in technology. The title of the book is in a sans serif font that

I think is Futura. It is imprinted in black on a black fabric cover with blue

glitter and a green spine. The sections in the book are categorized by artist

and each of their sections will contain some of their works with title,

medium, and dimensions. All of the works in this book are very different and

unique. The book is 12" x 8.5".

The last book is called, The MGM Years by Lawrence B. Thomas. This book is a

collection of 40 great musicals from 1939 through 1971. For each musical it

tells you the day it was released, the cast, the songs, a summary of the

movie, and what critics said about it as well as a picture or two. The cover

of the book is solid purple with the title on the spine in a gold sans serif

font that looks to be Helvetica. The book's size is 12" x 10.5".
