Grid example - Hi Fructose - Lily Kowalski

The grid example I've chosen is an artist (Oliver Vernon) spread in the magazine Hi-Fructose. Hi-Fructose is known for overwhelming the reader by allowing the artwork to take up a whole page, rarely allowing a grid-system. However, there still has to be informational text in a magazine, and that means there is a grid system taking place. I believe this grid system is a hierarchical grid system. None of the content areas are in the same proportion, and their modular dimensions present some sort of tension. Even the text itself that is stuffed within two small columns have such tension. However due to the hierarchy in the title, the text is magically organized. But the images have the most astounding hierarchy of the page, and for good reason, because why buy an art magazine if you can barely see the art on the pages?
